Job Title: Java DevOps Engineer
Location: Frisco, TX, or Auburn Hills, MI
Employment Type: Contract
Onsite Requirement: 2 days onsite a week
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Java DevOps Engineer to join our development and operations team. In this role, you will support the continuous integration and deployment of Java-based applications, with a focus on automation, scalability, and cloud infrastructure management.
The ideal candidate will be highly experienced in Jenkins, AWS 2.0, and API development/integration, with a strong grasp of Agile methodologies and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure in AWS 2.0 environments
- Develop and support Java-based services, including RESTful API integration and management
- Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and operations teams to streamline application delivery
- Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for efficient and scalable deployment
- Troubleshoot production issues and support on-call incident response as needed
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives, daily stand-ups)
- Clearly communicate progress, risks, and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in Java development, including backend services and API integrations
- 2+ years of DevOps experience, with proven expertise in Jenkins and CI/CD automation
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS 2.0 (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudFormation)
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, API gateways, and microservices architecture
- Familiarity with Agile software development and iterative delivery practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with Docker and container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS)
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana, ELK)
- Experience with Git, GitHub Actions, and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Communications, English, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a Java DevOps Role
- Previous experience in an enterprise technology environment is preferred.
