Job Summary:
We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable ML solutions within a health insurance environment. This role focuses on operationalizing predictive models that support cost management, risk stratification, utilization management, quality improvement, and fraud/waste/abuse detection. You will work closely with data scientists, data engineers, clinical leaders, and business partners to move models from experimentation into secure, production-grade systems that comply with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Deploy, scale, and maintain machine learning models in production environments

Partner with data scientists to translate models into robust, reusable ML pipelines

Build and manage model training, validation, versioning, and monitoring workflows
-
Implement solutions for risk prediction, cost forecasting, utilization management, and quality analytics

Monitor model performance, drift, bias, and reliability over time

Optimize model inference for performance, scalability, and cost

Ensure solutions comply with HIPAA, CMS, and internal data governance standards

Collaborate with cloud, security, and DevOps teams to support secure deployments

Document architecture, processes, and technical decisions for audit and governance purposes
Required Qualifications:
-
3+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Software Engineer (ML), or similar role
-
Strong programming skills in Python (and/or Java, Scala)
-
Experience operationalizing ML models using frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
-
Solid understanding of ML lifecycle management (training, deployment, monitoring)

Experience working with large datasets and complex data pipelines
-
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
-
Experience working in regulated or HIPAA-compliant environments
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience in health insurance, managed care, or healthcare analytics
-
Hands-on experience with claims, eligibility, or healthcare financial data
-
Knowledge of MLOps tools (MLflow, Airflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker, Databricks)
-
Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or healthcare data standards
-
Experience supporting risk adjustment, HEDIS, Star Ratings, or FWA models
-
Exposure to model governance, validation, or explainability (SHAP, LIME)
Education/Certifications:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
