Title: Respiratory Therapist
Location: Onsite – Southfield, MI

Shift Hours     • Nights 7p-7:30a
Schedule
2+ years experience as a respiratory therapist, Associate of Science Degree, Current ARRT or NBRC registration, current RT licensure, and BLS certification from AHA     • Candidates that have neonatal intensive care experience would be a plus but it is not required     • Candidates that have experience working in a Trauma Level 2 facility would be a plus but it is not required     • OT billed after 48 hours

Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist provides life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapies to patients. Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for Intensive Care and General Practice Unit patients while maintaining clinical expertise and providing high-quality patient care. Effectively communicates with patients, physicians, and healthcare team members and accurately documents all aspects of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care, life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapies to patients.
  • Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for ICU and general practice patients.
  • Assess patient respiratory needs and provide appropriate treatments according to established protocols.
  • Maintain clinical expertise and provide respiratory therapy services across assigned business units.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, coworkers, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care needs.
  • Accurately document all aspects of patient care and respiratory therapy services.
  • Supervise, direct, and delegate responsibilities to Respiratory Therapists, orienting staff, externs, and students as assigned.
  • Complete accurate patient billing and related documentation.
  • Provide appropriate respiratory care during emergency and critical-care situations.
  • Maintain compliance with departmental policies, clinical standards, and patient safety requirements.

Qualifications
Required

  • Associate of Science degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
  • Registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Strong clinical, communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Neonatal respiratory care experience.
  • Experience working in a Level II Trauma facility.

Required Certification & Licensure

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) registration.
  • Current Michigan Respiratory Therapist license.
  • BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Working Conditions
Position may be based in a hospital or ambulatory/mobile imaging setting. Exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and infectious diseases is possible with appropriate safety precautions. Position may require assisting with patient transfers and moving equipment.
